Three letters do a lot of work.
"I can't do this" is a conclusion. "I can't do this yet" is a progress report. Same sentence, same struggle, completely different meaning — one closes the door, the other just says you're not finished walking through it. The word doesn't make the hard thing easier. It just keeps it from becoming permanent.
